Blessed....

Last year on my birthday my husband woke me in the morning with a starbucks and a warming vehicle and sent me off for the day to the Hyatt spa... Followed by what was to be shopping downtown for a couple of hours and supper at Ruth Chris' at the Calgary Tower.. Hard to beat right...

However... this year for my birthday i felt totally spoilt.. I feel like i have the best friends and family in the world.. and i felt so undeserving...

* A night out at the local dinner theatre with a great girlfriend.. meeting & laughing with spontaneous strangers :)
*A birthday greeting from my Love at 12:05 in the morning.. (he just had to be the 1st one to wish me a happy birthday)
*the absolute SWEETEST delivery.... adorable littler girl & her momma wearing party hats... singing ... flowers... cupcakes......
*6 hours in a restaurant with some very close girlfriends... discussing life...... WOW...
*An impromptu phone call from my brother.. inviting me to supper at possibly the best "seafood" restaurant in Alberta called "The Catch"... thanks for being so understanding and doing the "desert" at McDonalds... (pretty sure that restaurant had never seen kids :)
*A fun night at the Waterslides with long lost cousins... just chilaxin'
*And so many great conversations from friends/family calling to wish me a happy day..

(not to mention some kiddos of mine and their awesome rendition of "Happy Birfday"...

It really doesn't get better than this..

P.S. (my photography skills are getting worse with age... and i haven't quite figured out taking pics on my iphone... and i hope i'm not the only one who hates myself in pictures :(

This is Just How We Roll....

This is what we do on those REALLY cold days when everyone is climbing the walls... literally... (you'll notice also that laundry isn't fond of cold days, and Jace wishes he was a Mexican Soccer Player, and Isaac wishes he could just go surfing somewhere.. anywhere so he stays decked out in hits board shorts... )

Can you tell i've read tooo many kids books..

So awhile back Wade and I had an intense conversation about some things about our "new" house that i wanted to change.. Don't get me wrong... i absolutely adore our home.. but there are a few things that just aren't me.. not that they even look bad.. in fact some of it is even amazing.. just not my taste.. The reason it was intense was initially Wade thought it was just me .. being uncontent.. (sometimes true... i do have this trait coarsing thru my veins.. i gotta be honest)... However after i explained that this was my office.. my workspace.. where great things happen... and that it would be like him everyday going to work and building a house - whose plan he hated..... So we agreed that if .. somehow.. outside of the budget we could afford these small fixes that he would be more than happy to assist/do them :) Like birthdays...  Well this year i hit the jackpot.. My grandma Peppley gave all of us kids some $$ this year for our birthdays.. and my family all so kindly asked what i'd like .. and i said $$ ... and so the carefully calculated "List" was formed... this is where it gets good... Rebecca ... my super duper sis-in-law was out and we were bored and i was showing her what i'd like for our kitchen and had been shopping around for to spend my birthday cashoola on.. So she said to leave it with her because she gets great discounts on all this type of cool stuff.. WELL.. today a little delivery showed up ... MY BACKSPLASH TILE... and it is beautiful... and the best part... a truly awesome gift from my great in-laws :) Now what to spend my money on..... thinks mama needs a new pair of shoes :) (joking.. not this year)

P.S. I also feel special blessed because my 2 year old sang me "Happy Birthday" all the way home from Superstore this morning... AND

A good friend of mine is taking me on a suprise "girl"date tonite... AND tomorrow nite I get to spend the evening with some of my bestest friends :)))

How's that for getting old!!! You want to too... i can tell .

Husbands... You can't live with them.. And you can't live without them

Wade is gone to Creston for work for a week and i found myself thinking this.. Before he left i must admit i was a little excited to see him go.. I always am.. I anticipate a week of projects., a week that ends up being a little lighter on the suppers, and not having to worry about lunches... usually a week of decluttering where i haul everything out .. ponder it and then part with it.. usually... Wade is the "keeper" in more ways than one... However about as soon as his truck left the driveway i was crying.. What!! I missed him already.. And i worry incessantly about him when he's not in the city..

But really i like it when he goes away... No other time does he text me cute little messages about 100x a day and I can always anticipate a really good date nite when he comes back !!

So ... sometimes absence makes the heart FONDER :)

January 10,2010... Registered my baby for kindergarden.. Collingwood Spanish School.... Look Out!! WOW... is all i can say a little teary eyed...

Isaac comes bounding down the stairs when i got home..

"Mom .. did you go tell them i'm coming to their school..." (sob, sob).. Yes i did.. :)(
