18 Month Check Up = Awesome

For some reason i was a little bit nervous about this appointment.. Both for the results (something like a little fly landing on your ear - not really anything serious but just hard to forget about), and how Jace would actually do laying on a table - and sitting still.. However he actually did AMAZING and the results were FANTASTIC... The tech of course at the Children's was sooo sweet , singing to him, and letting him play with extra leed tags, and letting him try out the ultrasound stick beforehand, and also they had the most fantastic movie playing with singing and dancing.. that he actually watched. His Right Ventrical is still a little small.. (however thats ok - should be big enough to support him for his life), and the vein coming from it is a little thickened.. (again to be expected due to the still slight narrowing of his valve)... but his ASD hole looks to have closed .. So they will continue to follow him yearly, and POSSIBLy.. but only possibly he'll have to have a valve replacement 20 or so years down the road.. But we won't worry about that - and likely by that time it will be day surgery... So we are soo happy.... We spent so much time with his cardiologist both before he was born and in the 6 months that followed that she felt like family... We hugged and it felt oddly strange that i won't see her again for a while... (however i am ok with that)... It was actually quite cute - as we were pulling up to the hospital Jace got this funny little smile on his face and clapped his hands... And as we were driving away i was soo grateful for the age that we live in.. I sometimes get caught up in this 'age' of drugs, alchol, so much distruction and all the negative.. that i forget all the bonuses that we enjoy... And for our little family its an amazingly happy, loveable and energetic little boy...

Oh Happy Day! :0) I too am a fan of this day we live in and the technology available. I used to always wish I lived in the old days of horse and buggy, but not when you have babies that may need advanced medical assistance. Good for Jace and for all of you.

Someday it will not matter how big my house is, how much money is in the bank, or where i have travelled.. only that I have been important in the life of a child...
