Cross Your Fingers...
So after 10 days in the Children's Hosptial, a "top notch" nurse suggested they do a scope of Jace's nose and throat seen as how none of the treatments they were doing for his (croup and Bronchilitus) was working. 1st go round got a NO from the docs, the 2nd day her and I both requested one and... hallaluah.. we got one. Within 10 minutes of the scope we were downstairs in ICU and Jace was scheduled for Bronchoscopy the next day. This revealed a condition called "Subglottic Stenosis" . Which is basically a narrowing of the airway. This can be caused by one of two reasons.... a genetic make up of a person , or from scar tissue from being intubated in surgery... Anyways even though Jace was only intubated for 2.5 days there was enough trauma to cause scar tissue to form in his airways. A normal opening for babies his age is between 5 -6 mm, he was breathing through less than 2 mm. So they lazered the scar tissue and stuck a 3 mm tube in his airway in hopes that this will open up. He was on a ventilator for 2 days - when they removed the tube. He has passed the critical 6-12 hr phase and we are out of ICU.. Now we wait and see how he does. We are desperately hoping that he will not need a Tracheotomy - which he would have until he's 1 at which time they would take cartilage from his hip and restructure his airway.. and so we cross our fingers.... He goes for a 2nd Bronchoscopy on Mon-Tuesday to check and if all looks good we should be home by Thursday.. .. YEAHHHHHH...

Home Sweet Home - For 1 Nite
We were so thrilled to make it home Thursday for 1 nite of sleep in our own beds... However for some reason Jace was not a fan of our house... (i'm talking to his dad about this) so Friday nite we took him back to the Children's Hospital where he has been diagnosed with Croup and Bronchilitus... However just before we went back to the hospital we got a few pictures taken of him without all his "baggage".. Isn't he beautiful!!!!
